He did started as a sax player, paying his bills with a job as security guy at a big studios front door.
It was at that same studio were he than slowly transitioned from the position of securety to being a assistant.
He learned a lot of his recording and mixing skills back than, by watching the big guys doing the job.
Patching cables, moveing mics, getting what ever was needed for the engineer or artist and doing so in with a good vibe and without getting in the way, opend the door to the next step. He found him self recording sessions for engineers that could not be bothered to record the artist them self.
It was Puff Daddy who then chosed him to do the engineering for his work and things started to move faster.
After that Axel started to work with The Roots, Common, Foxy Brown, Jazzyfatnastees, Talib Kweli and many more.
He developed a mixing style of his own and found him self competeing with Bob Power on several mixing jobs.

In Axel you'll find a competent recording and mixing engineer, who is able to get you great soulfull sounds. Knowhow of recording anything single singers up to big bands. Mixing styles from polished hiphop, banging beats, reggae, soul, r&b, electronica, folk to Jazz. You name it!
